We are back again on this lovely Saturday night. I am currently sitting on my bed with my big ‘ole headband in my hair while waiting for my face mask to set. Skincare people. It’s important. Trust me. Anyways… I’m here to tell y’all about the new job I recently started!

So– I just received the opportunity to become a sales associate at the boutique, Francesca’s. Let me tell you, I was super excited to start because I have been interested in fashion since before I can even remember. (Funny side-note: when I was in preschool, I would go into school crying everyday because I hated how my parents would dress me and how ugly the clothes they bought me were. Reminder I was in preschool.)

I have always loved everything about fashion. There are endless possibilities within the fashion world, whether it is showing off your personality or alternating between different styles, the list goes on. I find it so fascinating how people can pick out the same pieces of clothing but mix and match or pair them with different items in order to incorporate there specific style. Fashion really helps people express themselves in ways that words can’t. Fashion really is considered an “art”, at least to me it is.

Moreover, I guess you can say I have a shopping addiction. Although, I don’t think its an addiction, it’s just a hobby in my opinion. It makes me happy and feel liberated. Even just going around stores and creating different outfits is so entertaining for me. I absolutely love everything about it.

…I guess I went off on a small tangent there, but now we’re back to my new job. The one thing I love the most about working in retail is helping other people. I have a soft spot in my heart for helping others and influencing them to do what makes them feel the most confident. I believe that working in retail is a great way to motivate people to do what makes them feel the best about themselves, but also giving them a little push in the right direction if they don’t know where to start. Even if they do, it is always helpful receiving advice from someone who is passionate and also educated about something such as clothing. For example, if customers enter the store and have a specific idea in mind of what they are looking for, it is always smart to give them options based on what their interests are and also what you think will suit them, yet still make them feel comfortable. With knowledge of current trends and ambiguity within outfits, you can work hand in hand with the client to find something that they love based on what is out on the sales floor. Having knowledge about trends is so crucial because there are so many different trends that occur all at one time, and super quickly as well. It is hard-even for me- to keep up with them all, but I love seeing what styles other people are in to so I make sure to stay on top of it.

Trends might not seem super important, and to some people they might not be, but that is totally valid. Not everyone has the same interests when it comes to fashion or what is important in the fashion world. This is simply my opinion and what I believe enables me to help the client to the best of my abilities.

This was one of my shorter posts, but it has been a while since I posted and I have wanted to do a post similar to this one for a while not, I simply could not figure out the words to express my emotions surrounding this topic. I hope this summed it up for you guys to give you all a glimpse on how fashion impacted me!

If I can leave you guys with one thing, it would be to not be afraid to express yourselves though fashion. Wear what you are comfortable in. Even if you think you “can’t pull a certain something off”, give it a try, there is no harm in giving it a shot. Also, if you don’t know what your style is, it is 100% ok to ask for help. One of the sales associates at whatever store you work at would be more than happy to help search for the perfect outfit for the occasion you are shopping for, or even if it is for no occasion at all!

Lastly, here is a pro tip: PINTEREST. This app is my entire life. I find so many outfit inspiration pictures on here. I use Pinterest as a starting base. I then see what outfits/ trends I like and whether I have the items needed to wear a similar look, or see the looks other people are into and then make them my own based on my personal style and obviously, the clothes that I own!

I hope this post inspired you all to reach out of your comfort zone and not be afraid to try new things! There is no harm in exploring new options as you never know the outcome! Hope you enjoyed hearing about what fashion means to me!

Xo,

D
